    Many thanks John and Lyn. It's all very clear now. I've been "using" PM6.5 for many years (twice a year for an increasingly complex publication) and it's taken 'till now to encounter and deal with this problem! Very much appreciated. Eric

    Thanks for those 2 responses. I had thought the problem might lie there - both machchines are set to compose to screen (the default?). Do you know a reason why this approach doesn't work? Regards Eric

    I have a PM 6.5 document created on another machine. When I try to edit it in layout mode, the format is lost causing critical layout to be lost. The style is still shown unchanged as are the character attibutes in the contol palette. I am then unable to re-format the paragraph to it's original...
