Hi,
we are doing a refresh of our backup infrastructure this year.
I was wondering if anyone from other Uni's around the globe might have some input for us, so we can benchmark sort of where we are and what
we are doing.
Our uni has 130 Terabytes of data which is backed up weekly, 260 a...
Hi,
I have been tasked with setting up a backup of a Sharepoint 2007
distributed system. I am a UNIX admin and don't know a great deal about
Sharepoint, which is kind of an overengineered attempt
at domination of a non-market, but any way it's my job and I do find the
process of setting it up...
Hi,
we understand that! It is annoying that Legato takes
away functionality in 7.3 and later and doesn't replace
it. There is no way I know of to simply get whether
a drive has a volume in it (mounted or not) or
to interrogate the CAP port. AFAIK there is no other
way to interrogate...
Hi,
sorry for the confusion. Yes, the commands exist
but they no longer work on Solaris 10 SPARC.
When I run the sjirdtag command, it now returns
"device busy" because there is a daemon now bound
to the Control Port: /usr/sbin/nsrlcpd
So now this daemon handles all nsr requests to the...
Hi,
we are setting up a new Legato 7.4.2 server on Solaris 10.
On our old system, we relied heavily on a shell script
called "jbscan" which used the sji commands to
do the following:
* check for a free tape drive(s)
* scan the CAP for media present
But in Legato 7.3 and later, on Solaris...
Hi everyone,
thanks for the advice. We ended up resolving it.
I made a checklist for the Exchange admin to go through
and when we got to "Module Version" we discovered
he had somehow installed a very old exchange Module
2.0 on the 2003 version server.
Updating this to 5.1 resolved the...
Can anyone please help with this Legato MSEXCH setup?
I have a Client configured and just licensed for the
MSEXCH module. We added the nsrxchsv.exe to the
Backup Command Field and ensured the Legato Services
are running as the remote user "ex_service".
But the backup repeated fails with...
Hi,
thanks everyone for your assistance.
I got rid of all the wildcard entries in the remote
access field for the client.
Then I set from Networker Server "Remote Access All Clients"
as suggested above. This appears to have solved my
problem, but at the same time, checking this field...
Hi,
I have configured some very long running NDMP jobs
using DDS. The initial job is working fine,
now I am going to setup 2 more similar ones on
2 more NAS servers.
However I am unsure about how tapes will be used.
I have created an NDMP pool for the backups with
a number of volumes...
Hi,
sorry for late reply - off sick!
Anyway, I have every possible combination of
remote access on both nodes:
SYSTEM@node1
SYSTEM@node1.fqdn
SYSTEM@*.*
SYSTEM@*
*@*.*
*@*
The last 4 are for testing/debug.
I still get the error:
save: File index error: permission denied, `SYSTEM' on...
Hi,
Thanks for your help. I have made partial progress
and then fallen backwards. We created the Virtual Host Client
as suggested. I gave it Drives P/Q/S and added the
client remote access to/from both physical clients.
Then we tried a series of backups which seemed to work.
Then we...
Hi,
I have 2 MS SQL clients with cluster licenses.
Originally we just had Saveset: All configured
but we discovered that only C: drive was being saved on these
systems.
So now we have Savesets configured for S:, P:, Q: and
so on.
But when the backup runs, one server ignores these...
Hi,
I have a problem with a Windows Client, that starts
a savegrp as a client but it hangs forever and never starts
moving any data to tape:
150# savegrp -vvvv -l incr -c costmaster win2k-daily
costmaster:C: level=incr
11/13/06 15:04:57 savegrp: Run up to 24...
