running both SQL 7 and 2000 on one server

Thanks for responding but both our databases are set on 65 now. The original database was SQL Server 6.5 - long before I took over. I guess what we want to know (and I think I have brought this issue up before) is why 2000 is processing the exact same script that was on our SQL Server 7 db...

running both SQL 7 and 2000 on one server

Does anyone know if I can have both sql 7 and sql 2000 on one new WIN2000 server? I already have sql 2000 installed but have run into processing errors (the original sql 7 db is on an older server). I do not want to drop sql2000 but would like to install sql 7 on the same server for addtional...

same script but different results between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

Yes, the order is different. The order remains the same until a certain procedure is run (in all about 20 procedures process this data). After this point the order is different for certain fields but not all. As well, some of the dates are occasionally incorrect in only 2 fields. These dates...

same script but different results between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

Terry, I checked the compatibility of my databases. The compatibility of the model, master and msdb on SQL 7.0 is 70 and on my sql 2000 server it is 80 for all. However, the database that I am currently using to process records was originally created on 6.5 thus it has a compatibility of 65...

same script but different results between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

Why did I not need an order by clause with SQL 7 and then I will need one with SQL 2000? Is there something I over looked upon installation or maybe a change. I do believe my script is processing the records based upon order.

same script but different results between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

This is really stumping me. For some reason, the same script is giving different results between the same databases - identical databases, one installed on SQL 7 and the other on SQL 2000. Has there been some changes in SQL 2000 that would change my results? Please help! THANK YOU!!!

SQL script problem between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

Could it be a default sort order difference between the two SQL Server databases? I have noticed that when the SQL 7 database returns the data it sorts with the most recent records last. The new SQL server 2000 database results are in random order. Did I miss something on installation of SQL...

SQL script problem between SQL 7 and SQL 2000

I have been in the process of migrating SQL 7 (WIN NT server)to another server with WIN2000 and SQL 2000. I did a back up and restore and am now in testing phase. For some reason, eventhough the scripts are identical I am getting different (incorrect) results from SQL 2000. I am not sure what I...

    moving tempdb.mdf in SQL 2000

I need to move the tempdb.mdf to another drive. Right now it is on my C drive (RAID5 setup) and is taking up way too much space. I had moved my main database to another drive upon creating it but I failed to take into account the tempdb growth during processing. I do not want to re-create my...

error box says: "the parameter is incorrect"

ADW - These DTS packages were created about 1 year ago on a client/administrator machine. Recently, this individual who worked on this computer left the company and her machine was reconfigured and given to someone else. I used to be able to modify these DTS packages on my client machine which...

error box says: "the parameter is incorrect"

The SQL server versions are the same on the both the clients' machines and the servers. However, on the server in question there is SP2 installed so I tried updating one client machine with SP2 to see if this would fix the problem. I could not get SP2 to install on this client machine - I kept...

error box says: "the parameter is incorrect"

When I try to open any DTS package from a client machine, I receive an error that says "the parameter is incorrect". However, I can still open the DTS packages if I am on the server itself. I tried transferring these packages to another SQL server that was working normally and I...

dts packages and a dnetw.dll missing error

When I click on the SQL Server DTS packages to receive data from a sybase database, I receive an error message of being unable to locate the DNETW.dll. I have installed the sybase odbc and have it configured exactly like my other SQL Server which works fine. I have tried to find the DNETW.dll...
