    start -> run -> command <enter> -> ipconfig /all that will show you your IP on the computer if its 2000 or XP. Go into the network neighborhood and right click on your connection. Click properties. Under the TCP/IP you can manually set the IP. I suggest you use a range like 10.0.0.x

    DNS is pointed to itself. Name resolves with ping using the fully qualified computer name and just the computer name.

    opps. Forgot to add in that 90% of workstations are Windows xp, the others are 2000. All have file and print sharing on. Have tried turning XP firewall on and off. No other firewalls installed.
