Thanks again for your persistance Magix3kewl.
Can I ask you how to do this on the netgear router?
"It is done from the CLI with command "/config/algs/disable h323"."
What command line interface are they referring to? I didn't know there was a CLI on the netgear routers?
Please advise on this...
Hello MCCIT
I have had the same luck with Netgear (3-4 months ago tech support said I was the only one with this issue), in the past as well...that is why I am very interested in seeing what comes of Magix2kewl's ticket with Netgear and Avaya's involvment...
A agree, we shall wait and see what...
I hear you when you speak of many lost man hours of goofing with the 538. QOS was the reason I kept goofing with the 538 and I have to agree with you that it is very dissappointing that this product has a real problem with VOIP! But don't give up yet I believe Magix2kewl and this thread...
I knew something was not right with the VPN tunnel...kudos to you Magix2kewl for persisting!
Hope they are working on it the fix...I have been tripped up on this problem for months.
Thanks MCCIT ,
I will buy and try the 114's and set it up and get back to all on this issue as well...
It must be the 538's dual wan ports that does deal with the VPN traffic properly. That is a pure guess, but it is plausable...
I will keep you all posted...
FYI
I have read another thread that has very similar problems with the netgear product although if you read the later responses there is someone who has had success with a netgear vpn setup...

Magix. is right the tunnel should be totally open to all ports.
Magix are you running a domain controller at your office? I have seen an error in my tftp log that may be a coincidence or the cause...The error states that it cannot process the BootP device for the IP address (the address is the...
I have had the same situation that you are describing in your post...I have set up a VPN tunnel with the Netgear VPN routers (538 and 318 models) I assume you have a VPN tunnel as well (you did not mention)...I have had this problem for months without any resolution. Please tell me if you have...
actually when I read the TFTP log on the IPOffice 403 it now tells me that it is unable to process the Boot request for the IP hardphone (shows the IP address and MAC address).
Error as it exactley shows up in the log...

Yes I can ping the IPOffice from the remote site. The VPN is up and I have done what you said about turning off the 802.1Q off on the IP phone. It still does not work...
Any other suggestions...I am stumped...you said the Netgear product causes problems with the H.323 protocol?
I have the exact same problem sunnyphone, did you ever figure it out...I have 2 netgear routers as well...VPN...I even log in my remote IP office 403 the TFTP log that the phone as been sent the upgrade.scr files and the settings.txt files and then no more log information and the phone sits in...

I have suspected this and have ordered another Netgear VPN router. I spent 2 hours with Linksys trying to figure out what could be wrong and at the end of it they blamed it on the VPN router that is actually working with other VPN appliances not there own product that has failed to work...

First question about the PC that can ping the IPO...never said that was so...the only ping that works is within the routers own diagnostics pinging utility that can see the remote endpoint router's local address. I cannot ping to any device from any device other than the routers to each other...
If there is something wrong with the tunnel why can I ping the routers from each others diagnostics ping utilities? and why does the tunnel show a successful connection?
Thanks for your help anyways...
I am using a Netgear FVX538 for the IPO side and a Linksys Wireless-G VPN Router WRV54G on the IP Hardphone side.
Yes I have created a IP-Route in the IPO that describes the remote network LAN addressing (the Linksys router and IP hardphone side).
If I can't ping the IPO from the remote site...
I have established a VPN tunnel between 2 VPN routers. The tunnel is up and running with the information in the instructions 'Nuggiefirst' provided me (thanks!). After establishing the VPN tunnel it shows connected but the IP hard phone still does not see the IPOffice network (192.168.0.0)...
