I do a little work in datacollection and have found Wedgeware useful. I'm not sure it will do everything you are looking to do, but it might.

Good call; I hadn't thought of that (obviously as indicated by my post :) My only concern is what are the chances of infecting the master drive in the "good" machine when I boot. Could I make the master read-only or something? I'm new at this.

Assuming you are using the keyboard wedge version of the scanner and it is setup properly, you will probably need to use a PS2 keyboard too. Plug the PS2 cable into the HHP 3800 wedge cable and plug the other portion of the "Y" into the computer keyboard port. This scanner inputs data...
