    Guys I figured out the problem.. It was related to a field that was null ( in Cust_Prod.mdb file). The same field in my Cust.. I had a inner join link defined in the report.     dgillz, I agree to what you are saying. I am assuming everyone who has read this post is facing the same issue. I will convey to the client that this is how it works in crystal reports. I have no control over that.

    dgillz, You are right only when the user clicks on the fields in the detail section, it highlights the entire column. I forgot to mention, the entire highlighted column appears "light blue". This is what is bothering the client.
