I just did the upgrade from Win7 to Win10 after being notified my Dell Inspiron met the Win10 criteria. The upgrade worked flawlessly. I have checked most of my regularly used programs and they run fine.
I have just installed Win 10 and SK98 (installed in the C root) is working fine. All my settings are retained even after a restart of Win 10 as well as closing and opening SK98. Win 10 restored my Win 7 look.
Using the information from others in the other Sidekick thread I have Sidekick 98 running fine in my Win 7 64bit OS. It is installed in the C root rather than the Program Files (x86) folder that the installation seeks to go to. I selected the option to install it as Sidekick 98 in the C drive...
Skyline151 by toolbar functions are you referring to the icon functions (i.e. save, save as, open, close, etc.)?
What version were you using before Windows 10? Where was SK 98 installed on the root or in the Program files folder (not Program files x86 folder)? I am using Win 7 Home Premium...
Continuing the information in this thread- to evaluate Win 10 install of SK98 Waleed Hanafi did a virtual machine install of Win 10 prior to checking the installation of SK98. (link to that process in above entry) The link to his process is below...
I just Googled the question will SK98 run on Win 10 and found a positive answer from a SK98 user who installed the Insider Preview edition of Win10 on a virtual machine and then successfully installed SK98 on that Win 10. Here is the link I found...
ANYONE HAVE HANDS ON WIN 10 AND SIDEKICK 98? With the new release in July 29 tho't someone might have been in the testing aspect of the new MS OS. If so, have you tried Sk 98 or any other version of SK with Win 10? The Win 10 reviews indicate it is compatible with software run win 7, 8 & 8.1...
I have found that the Essential.pim program (free or fee for Pro version) does the job needed to replace SK98 when it is necessary. All contact files can be transferred in .csv format from SK98 to epim quite easily. Calendar information must be entered anew. However, it is easy and offers the...
Go to this link and look for Henry W (red starred)input. He describes how to install SK98 to Win7 and Win8. [bigsmile]

I just used the compatibility check for Win 8. It checked all programs, but NOT Sidekick 98. I suspect that having installed it on the root C: may be the reason. The compatibility program is likely set to check only programs in either of the Program Files folders. I guess when someone is forced...

I am using the Chrome browser as I post and have opened SK98 repeatedly with no problem. I also opened Skype and then reopened SK98 with no problem. My OS is Win7 64 bit. Just tho't you would want to know it works on my system. Would the 32 bit OS be part of the problem? Are you using SK98?
Thanks for your response Jim. I overlooked the obvious adjusting the DST on the laptop as well. I shouldn't have assumed that making the adjustment on the desktop would work for both because of the file transfer from desktop to laptop. When I made the DST adjustment on the Laptop as well both...
When I transfer the files of SK98 from my Desktop (W7) to my Laptop (W7) all works well EXCEPT that all the EVENTS entries are 1 hour later on the Laptop and the same when I transfer from the Laptop to the Desktop. This started after the change to DST. I have made the adjustment on both Desktop...
No problem here using W7 & SK98. It works fine. You might try installing SK98. I believe it will accept the data from SK99. I don't recall where, but there was a discussion about returning to SK98 from 99 in this forum.

Following JGFLA's info for Vista 64bit I installed SK98 in a Starfish folder that I created on the C: drive. It installed with no problem. Using the programs(X86) folder would not work. C:\Starfish\Sidekick98 works just fine in Vista Home Premium 64 bit. Others say this works with...

Thanks for the update on W7 release version. Did you do an upgrade install over Vista 64 or 32 bit? It's supposed to install over the Vista OS transparently. OR did you do a clean install formatting the HD? I have 64bit on my desktop & 32 bit Vista on my laptop. I hope to have...
Thanks for this helpful insight on Windows7 install of SK98. I was considering a W7 upgrade, given the advertised "good backward compatibility" since SK98 works fine in both Vista 64 and 32 bit for me. I will wait to see how the release version of Windows 7 works before going there. SK98 is too...
