Yesterday, I was in Everett Massachusetts. While waiting for a traffic light, I looked up. What I saw had me reaching for my phone. I guess it was a late Friday afternoon job. [bugeyed]

A question for US members located in Verizon Core service areas.
Have you noticed any service related issues since the strike began [ponder]
In my area, (metro Boston), my FiOS service is humming along. No outages with my church's copper POTS lines either.

Dealers are either out of refurbished stock or charging very high prices for the processors that they do have. The few R7s & R8s that are listed on eBay are being bid up.
Oddly enough, the prices of...

Several years ago, John L. Shelton, a former contributor to Tek-Tips, created and posted 2 documents. 1 was an overview of the AT&T/Lucent/Avaya Partner platform and the other was an overview of the Merlin platform.
John posted the documents online and the links were listed here on Tek-Tips...
Several years ago, John Shelton (a former member of Tek-Tips) created an overview of the Merlin platform. The document was current for the time. The link to the document (which can be found by searching Tek-Tips) is now inactive.
Just a few minutes ago, I found a website that has posted a copy...
Today marks the end of the long and very productive run of the Partner platform [cry]. Except for the ACS R7, the Partner has been one of the best systems aimed at the small end market.

Here are a few articles that discuss the problem and provide some tips on how to minimize the chances of unknowingly purchasing bogus product...
The other day, I went to nyteldirect's website to see how much replacement hard drives for the Avaya Merlin Messaging (R4) were going for these days.
Much to my dismay, listings for all replacement hard drives have been dropped from the website and the company's homepage now sports a generic...
I just read that Simpliphones (a company that made "plug & play" IP PBXs) has gone out of business.
From what I've read, their systems simply failed to deliver.

I spent a little time thinking about what 1043 said in an earlier topic where he mentioned that the R7 might not be the end of the line for the Partner ACS.
If there is, indeed, more to come and I could have some wishes granted, what would I ask for?
I came up with a few things:
1) No more...
Has anyone had any experience with solid state replacement drives for the Merlin Messaging?
On paper, they seem like a "no brainer", but how well do they perform in real life situations [ponder]
