Im trying to use ssh keys to connect from RHEL5 to a Solaris 10 x86 box....
Ive created the keys but it doesnt seem to reconise them and i get a number of errors within the ssh -v output. Im wondering if this could be down to the difference in SSH versions... (open ssh and sun ssh)...

My goal is to create a script that will copy a file from ServerA to ServerB using ssh.
But there is a problem in my plan. My plan was to use rsa ssh keys to authenticate ServerA when it connects to ServerB.
This would be fine but the problem I have is that I do not have the ssh-add binary on...
i need to write a scipt which is based on a for loop. Within the for loop i require most of the script such as if statements and also a while loop.
The problem is when a if statement is reached i.e the RC is nto equal to 1 . I want the current loop to exit and then for it to start the next...

Ive stumbled into a really pants problem.
I had a NSM server installed on RHEL 5. NSM being a management server for Juniper Netscreen firewalls.
I then installed via yum httpd and built a web server.
All was fine. I then decided to uninstall the NSM.
Now it is uninstalled I am unabled to start...
Im currently trying to relay my emails via Postfix through my yahoo Smart Host.

Also are there another files which you can update that will affect all of my users at login.... rather then editing each one of their .bash_profiles...
Ive just install proftpd on rhel 5 but it wont start. Im trying to start it via the init.d, but it just says fails.
The logs show no errors, my hostname is set in hosts and i get the right ip when i ping local host.
Does anyone have any ideas ??
For the love of God, does anyone know how to set the umask of SSH and in turn scp.
I have tried every thing..... the various files in the ssh profile... the adding of umask in the config files, hopping on one leg, and even as a last resort dressing up as elvis and performing a juggling act...
My goal is set my data folder to create any new files or folders which are moved or created within a permissions setting of 775.
Ive been looking into umask and sticky bits, but as yet cannot see anything that would help me reach my goal...

Im just trying to build a better understanding of UNIX permissions but one thing confuses me...
When i have the permissions of 555 on a text file i can still edit the file in VI using the :wq! command. But this seems odd as root doesnt have write permissions to the file ???
All i need is to send email from my RHEL3 box to my email account.
I have a hostmail, yahoo, and gmail account.
I have tried sending email to all of these accounts and getting a number of errors ranging from bounced to authentication needed.
What is the quickest and fastest way to send email...
I created a new user in RHEL3 and when they log in i get

I recently checked my disk on my device using dosfsck, and couldnt work out if the output showed any issues.... i believe this looks ok, but just wanted clarification...

The problem is all the main icons for windows I cannot find as .ico files but are embedded into the .exe or dll files.

Yesterday I encountered a really strange problem with my wireless network which I cant seem to put my finger on.
I have 2 machines connected via wifi using WPA2. XP Pro and Vista.
Vista suddendly couldnt see any networks, I couldnt see any issues on the syste, so I run a repair on the network...
