Books Online don’t go into great detail as to exactly what the difference is between these two options when setting up Replication Sets.
Can anyone expand a little please?
Our main file server (2003 R2 x64) has around 8tb of data on it.
We currently do the following:
One way replication to a DR box on the other end of our site.
Backup to LTO3 tape via a twin drive SAS attached library on the following schedule:
Mon-Thurs - Incremental
Fri - Full
Incrementals...
I need to totally rebuild one of our servers, Windows 2003 R2 32 bit running Galaxy 8.0.
It's a FS iDA, CDR source, and an MA with a direct (SAS) attached LTO library.
I need to rebuild it so it's running 2003 R2 x64.
As I understand it, uninstalling and then reinstalling CDR and the FS iDA...
We have CDR replicating from a source file server to a destination file server. I have a row of green lights in Data Replication Monitor.
However, when I look at the “Failed Files” for each pair, I see various failures such as:
• 05/28/09 17:13:54 F:\ LUN1_Replica\$Extend\$ObjId Error: 2
•...
We've used Commvault for a few years so it seemed the obvious choice to "keep it under one roof" when we wanted to replicate data from our main server to a server in our DR site (which is on the end of a multi-gbps LAN link).
I've finally got downtime scheduled tomorrow to install CDR and any...
Woohoo!!
Updated Galaxy today to 8.0 and my first backup job just ran and failed:
Error Code: [40:99]
Description: Failed to disable hardware encryption on the hardware device. Please make sure that your device supports hardware encryption and it's functioning correctly.
Windows x64 media...
We're on 7.0 SP5 and our upgrade kit has arrived.
Our CommServe is a VM so I can do a DR backup and a VM snapshot prior to the upgrade, but of course I'd like to get a feel for how people have found the upgrade process to have gone?
I'm struggling to get what I think is the optimum throughput from my main file server.
The basic issue is that I have a file server which has a twin drive LTO3 library attached (so it's also a mediaagent) and the data volumes on the file server are on a 4gb/sec SAN so are reasonably quick.
A...
I installed this today as our main file server holds around 9 million files and backs up fine but it takes two hours to do the scan on a full backup.
Anyway, in a nutshell is there any more to it than install, and then change the iDataAgent to use the DCE as the Scan Type?
I'm not planning on...
We're using Galaxy 7, SP5.
I noticed that some, not all, of my Windows FS iDataAgent clients have two default sub-clients, one for files and one for System State, whilst some have a single default sub-client that on the "Content" tab has "Backup System State" selected.
What's the reason and...
We currently backup to tape, full at a weekend, incrementals every day.
I've been reading the concept of Synthetic Fulls and I'm interested who's doing this and how you have it setup and how you've found it to be.
We have a pair of tape libraries, a primary one with twin drives and a secondary...
I have a large file server with a SAS attached library with two LTO3 drives (Dell TL4000).
So, my main storage policy is set to use 2 streams with multiplexing of 4.
My File System iDataAgents are set to use between 4 and 8 data readers based on what I've (fairly crudely) determined to yield...
What are peoples experiences of this please, especially on Exchange 2003?
I use the Commvault Exchange Agent to do an Exchange aware full backup and a couple of incrementals each day, and I've always tended to use Deleted Item Retention as the "get out of jail" card for recovering individual...
We're running Galaxy 7.0.
I'm looking at a few of our Windows File iDataAgents and have a couple of queries.
Firstly, I notice that some, but not all have two subclients by default, one called "Default" and one for "System State" yet some do not - why is this please?
Secondly, I notice that...
I'm interested in using this to replicate between a file server to our DR location (multi-gbps LAN link) and possibly our Exchange 2003 server databases/logs to a folder on the same remote DR location.
General question I know but any experiences/feedback appreciated.
We're running Galaxy 7.x
Could I ask how you're finding it please?
Firstly a bit of context. We have our main server room which has an LTO3 library in it. We have a secondary location that has a smaller LTO3 library in it along with a server with local storage. The server, storage, and LTO3 are due to be replaced...
We're running Galaxy 7.0 with SP4a.
I have a couple of Windows File System iDataAgents that are each around 3tb in size.
Each is set to use 6 data readers.
I have a schedule that kicks off a full backup job for both clients, the backup device is a dual drive LTO3 library, with the Storage...
