dead laptop is screeching
My Dell Inspiron laptop froze and I couldn't even shut it down without holding down the power button. When I tried to power it back up, all it did was make a horrible screeching noise. Am I right in my assumption that the hard disk has crashed?- Shadthelad

USB storage suddenly not recognized
Who can give a hand to a naive user? I have had a WD external hard drive for a couple of years, using it with a laptop running XP with no problems. I recently got another laptop, running Vista, and used the WD device to transfer some photos and music files to the Vista machine. All went well...- Shadthelad
