What we want:
Let users create new items and edit all new and existing items.
We dont want users to delete or move. They can copy, but not move.
What permissions do I need to set?
Thank you,
Jody
I was wondering if I would run into any issues if I had sql, exchange, and the domain controller all on one box for a test server?
Also, I wanted to set up a very small test network. Could I do this simply with one server, a router, and a desktop? If not, what would you recommend for a very...
I am trying to copy a large windows bakup file to an external harddrive and I keep getting this error: "Cannot copy: insufficient system resources exist to complete the requested service". It has nothing to do with the speed of the fileserv. It is brand new. Could it be a caching issue?
Thanks!
I was wondering if there was something for Windows Server 2003 similiar to the Terminal Services RemoteApp on Windows Server 2008?
Here is a description of Remote App for 2008 "RemoteApp programs are programs that are accessed remotely through Terminal Services and appear as if they are...
Is there a way to disable Cached Exchange mode for all users at one time either in Active Directory or on Exchange server or must I go to each computer and disable it from there? I believe a few computers may still have it enabled, but I am unsure of which.
Thanks,

Ok, I made our new dc the FSMO role holder yesterday. I transfered all 5 roles. Everything seem to go smooth, except today I find out that some machines are taking a while to load excel and word files from the fileserver, while other machines load them perfectly fine. Adobe files open fine...
I have added a brand new dc to my domain. There are now currently 3 DCs running, and the new one will hold the FSMO roles and I will be taking down dc2. It does not hold the roles yet, but it will. I have followed the steps outlining in setting up an additional domain controller. What can I...
I know I have posted several topics on the information store, but I guess I just can't grasp it.
Over the weekend, my IS increased from 24 GB to 31GB. Last week, mail going in and out was only about 450 MB. White space before the increase was about 1.5 GB and now it is 5 GB. What does the...
Is there a standard for where the User Profile Paths are supposed to be stored?
They are currently on my Fileserver, but I am thinking about moving them to my DC to free up a little space and because the DC was just upgraded and I think it would decrease log-in time.
I do not have many...
I have about 1.647 GB of white space according to Event 1221. If I am incorrent in that, please let me know. Is there a reason that when I backup my First Storage Group that it is growing by about 200mb a week even though I have that much whitespace?
Thanks in advance.
I just found out that for the last few users I have had to create, the Public Calendar is empty in OWA. I see the name of the calendar, but when I open it up, no appointments or anything is in it. The Public Contacts show up though. When i log in with past users, the Calendar is there and up...
Right now I am currently using the basic Windows backup for our servers. I was wondering what are some other types of backup software that yall use or would recommend?
Also, does this software work faster in creating backups than the windows based?
Thanks in advance,

When you archive emails in Outlook, does it keep these emails as part of the Exchange database? I know the file is usually stored under the User folder on the computer, but I dont know if this data is backed up.
Thanks
How can I check what domain controller is the primary? I have been having problems with my dc1 and I think my dc2 may have taken over. Thanks in advance!
My Information Store is growing every day. I thought there was "white space" or something available inbetween the total size of the IS and the actual data?? What could be causing it to grow every single day? If I can users to clean up their boxes, it will not shrink the IS but keep it from...
What would cause my primary domain controller to demote itself to seconday dc and the seconday to become the primary by itself? How would I go about switching it back to what it was?
Also, the D: sharename on my primary domain controller changed from what it was to just "X". Weird.
Thanks in...
Over the weekend, I started getting this error. Apparently the logical size of my database is 16GB and is reaching the 18GB limit. Event ID 1221 says i have 3MB after online defrag. Is there anything I can do to reduce the current size of my database by having people delete emails and such...
I backup my exchange information store every night. The logs say that the backup is completed successfully, but the file size of the backup has not changed for a week!! Any ideas what the problem may be?
