have a column of cells where users put in "Y" for yes and "N" for no. However, when i count the Y's and N's, if there is a space after the letter, it will not count the character. I can't depend on users to remove the spaces,they are not that computer literate. Besides spaces are hard to see...

One stupid thing i hate about Excel is the circular reference. Maybe it has a purpose but i don't see one. All i do is cut and past info in one cell to another and then the formula becomes a circular reference.

I was trying to protect multiple worksheets at a time. So i selected the tabs at the bottom and started unchecking the Locked check box after going to Format Cells. But what i found out was that it was unlocking the first sheet but not all the following sheets.

Is there a way to set page breaks for multiple sheets? I have 40 sheets and a total of 900 pages per sheet. Selecting all the tabs and trying to adjust the page breaks in Page Break Preview doesn't work. will changing the margins for all the sheets work?

I have a list of cells and i want to count if a Y for yes was placed in the cell. But since it is a table of items, i only want that row to be counted. However countif only takes a range. I can't say countif(a1,a5, a11, a16, "y"). Is there a good alternative.I have a lot of cells.
