Hi,
We are using a standard setup which matches a QoS policy-map against Class-Maps using an ACL for certain types of traffic. We then DSCP mark this traffic on Egress and use WRED and CBWFQ.
for example:
access-list 101 permit tcp any any eq 3200
access-list 101 permit tcp any any eq 3600...
Is there a general feeling about the relative latencies and performance between site to site connectivity using a site to site VPN or using a Cisco VPN Client and a 3000 concentrator?
Would the Client method be an accurate way to simulate the latency that we would expect to see if we configured...
What is the best practice for controlling adjacencies between multilayer switches with multiple VLANs.
I have a LAN to explore that has several 6500's, none of them using Passive-interface so the Show IP OSPF Neighbors shows many adjacencies. Is this a problem, or something that is best...
I'm ramping up to do the QoS exam at the end of this month. I was studying BGP then got sidetracked by work/life so started the CCIP again on QoS.(it's much easier i reckon) I'm reading the Wendell Odom Book cover to cover.
Has anyone else done the QoS?
What's it like?
any other good resources?
I've had a stange one.
An ISDN line kept coming up hundreds of times, tests showed that the interesting traffic was from the loopback address to 255.255.255.255
Adding a deny line to the ACL stopped this happening, but why oh why should a loopback address broadcast anything? No services were...
Hi Everyone,
I finished my CCNP over a year ago and i've been feeling the need to move a step closer to the magical holy grail of CCIE. I've just begun CCIP study as I reckon these topics are totally necessary to master before CCIE.
Does anyone have a link or any hints to where I could get the...
Hi,
I have a load of 6509's running the OSPF routing in my new job: a large 3500 user LAN.
There are a few static routes on each as follows:
IP Route 10.0.0.0 255.255.255.0 VLAN 112 xx.xx.xx.xx etc
what is the significance of the VLAN statement in the command? i have never seen this before.
Hi everyone,
Is there an accepted way to bridge a VLAN across two or more VTP domains?
We have 3 separate factories on a large site each with its own VTP domain, there is one VLAN for contractor internet access that needs to be carried across the whole site into the first datacentre and to the...
I'm bored.
I finished my CCNP 4 months ago, I learnt a huge amount of very interesting stuff and now i want to pick up another pile of textbooks and start again.
I've looked at the job market and it seems that CCNP jobs don't pay huge amounts these days. So i could stay where i am for a while...
I am trying to implement QoS (CBWFQ) on my main internet router.
I've set up 4 different classes and allocated bandwidth etc but i only seem to get results from 2 of the queues.
I need all my Citrix traffic to take priority, then Me!, then bit torrent stuff is cut right down to 8Kbps, and the...
Hi everyone,
I have a bit of a mental block about this:
What should you use as the default gateway for a switch such as a 2960? does it really matter? is it neceesary anyway?
Currently i use the VLAN1 interface of my main 3560 multilayer switch (eg 10.1.0.10) , or the VLAN100 (which is the...
Last night i sat with my Cisco 877W on one side and a 1231AP on the other sdie of me configuring them for about 3 hours. I went to bed with a serious headache and very dizzy.
Does anyone else notice "stuff" from proximity to wireless?
MCP,CCA,CCNA,CCNP,Net+.
I use the following AAA setup on all my routers etc with no problems. But on a couple of 837 DSL routers it refuses to PPP authenticate because of the AAA. if i remove the AAA it works instantly. What am i doing wrong? How can i get around this?
The PPP debug output is at the bottom.
Thanks in...
I have a 877W DSL wireless router using WPA-PSK authentication, it all works fine for any client.
I also have a 1230 Access Point that I need to configure as a workgroup bridge to wirelessly link my outside office to the rest of my LAN.
Is it possible to get an AP to link to a router or does...
Hi Everyone,
I've got a badly behaving LAN. Please help as i think i've got things confused.
I've got about 10 2960 access switches connected with about 3 3560's as distribution switches. My 3560-G is the only one set to use IP routing (with OSPF- this works ok on all the other routers etc and...
Hi Everyone,
I've finally finished the months of hard slog and passed the BSCI to finish my CCNP.
For those still to take the exam: It was loads of BGP, far more ISIS than I would have thought, and a fair amount of route redistribution, bit of IPv6, EIGRP feasible successors, OSPF stub areas...
Hi Everyone,
I've got a silly little problem that i am sure there is an easy answer to:
My users cannot get remote access such as Citrix or Outlook web access from inside the company. Their default gateway is also the input IP address for all remote access. It is as if the edge router will not...
Hi Everyone,
I need to set up about 10 home workers with IPSEC VPNs to HQ, this is the easy bit. But what is the best practice for routing protocols? We use OSPF within the enterprise, is it best to set up each connection as a new OSPF area and configure it as a stub? Or is is best left as Area...
What's the best Wireless course and/or certification?
Is it best to stay with Cisco? or is a CWNA any good? does a CWNA cover Cisco's implementations?
Any other info would be gratefully received.
Thanks.

Hi Everyone,
Has anyone here done the CIT exam in the recent past? I've got it next week and don't know what to expect.
Is it just a mixture of the other 3 subjects or is it all troubleshooting questions?
How best would you revise for it?
Many thanks.
