I had the problem with a "normal" desktop PC,
but it could be the same problem with a Laptop.
So you have to contact a HP/Compaq-Service-Center.
(What about garantee?)
I have a great VB3-Program which i don't want to change to vb.net (not yet).
It works fine under win98.
Under XP and 2000 it is stabil, too. Only the backcolor of some controls change sometimes randomly.
witch dll / vbx is responsible ?
and how can i solve the problem?

I have a second disk with linux as os.
with mount and
find /mnt/C -print | cpio -pdumv /Sicherung
I get a full Backup.
Don't use a second partion -> when your disk is damaged, both partions can be lost.
If you use ntfs, you can't write directly back for restore.
Better use fat32.
the powertransformer ist demaged. you have to change it.
(i hope, its the right word. I mean the module where the 220 v is changed to lowvoltage.
i had to PCs, where this was the solution.
