I agree with checking the fans. When I run into this problem it is the power supply fan. I have also found it to be the CPU fan sometimes. I hope this helps.

I have run into the same proble 3 or 4 times. I did the following and it worked every time.
*Boot up on your XP Pro disk
*Choose Repair
*At the command propmt type chkdsk and press enter
*This will repair any errors and just boot up normal.
