Redhat 7.3 defaults to using the ext3 file system, and Redhat 7.1 used ext2. If you have the latest version of Ghost that should not be important, but I know ghost just started offering support for ext3.
Do you have any other way to get from your internal network to the internet? If not, then no, they cannot get around your firewall. However, if you are asking such a question, I think you should have someone who know's what they're doing install your firewall.
