Thanks, the problem is solved. It turns out that the patch timing was coincidental. The problem was that enough traffic passed through our NAT that our IP was blocked (redirected) automatically by some security software on their end. Some phone calls to the right people restored access...
I am really stumped. Here's the deal:
- I have a Linksys BEFSR11, which I use as part of our firewall system.
- I patched from 1.43 to 1.44.2
- Now when we try to access http://ssbbranches.com, we get redirected to http://biz.50below.com/freedom/templates/IPErrorMessage.cfm
All other internet...
Just want you to know that I gave up on this, especially since it seemed that no one else was having this problem. I like GUI's, but resigned myself to using the command line.
Thank you
Thank you people for your help. This is where it stands now: I had this same problem several months ago. I reinstalled SP3, which fixed the problem. Then about a week ago, I noticed the problem again. Even after several reboots, it persisted. But at about 4:00 yesterday, it fixed itself...
spoolsv.exe spikes about every 13 seconds, even with no printer activity (see screen capture), and even with a fresh reboot (w2000pro). It goes from 0% (for 5 seconds) straight to 100% (for 8 seconds).
I have one HP1200 physcially attached by lpt, and several network printers.
If anyone has...
After doing a log level = 10, I figured it out. Well, for the benefit of someone else someday, let me describe what the issue was.
I was testing by creating a empty text document (you know, in windows, right-click, new, text document...), and then deleting that file. But recycle.so doesn't...
I have been trying to implement the VFS recycle bin in Samba. Have samba-2.2.7-1.7.3 (I believe AKA 2.2.7a) on RH7.3 PDC. When I implement it, nothing happens (no "recycle" directory is created; no "deleted" files are moved).

Everything was going so smoothly... until I tested a few password changes from the W2k clients. Several changes in a row worked just fine, and then I got a 0x547 error (Windows side). Since then, I can't even change the Unix account passwords with redhat-config-users (though I CAN with passwd...
I know the above line is not real.
Does anyone have an idea how to get that type of functionality? I can't just let everyone be a domain user or a domain admin (mostly w2k machines here). As it is, I can't even get the domain-user logons to even be able to sync time. I need to be able to...
Just thought that I would shake the box one more time to see if anything else falls out, as related to the final points I made.
Again, I sincerely thank you for your input.
Firstly, thank you all for your opinions.
Secondly, I am very mad that I wrote about 600 words of reply only moments ago, and then accidentally closed the stupid window before posting. So let me sum up those lost words:
1- Seems like you are saying that there is no good open source...
Wonderful Forum Ya'll've got here,
I am migrating our small business (20 employees) from Novell 4.2 (and GroupWise) to Red Hat 7.3 (provided that I can make it work, cheaply). As you can guess, our needs are minimal. Just one real server. We need file serving, security on those files...
