DHCP setup on 26XX
im trying to investigate if ican configure the ethernet address to work with the DHCP from the cable modem to configure the ethernet port. More out of curiosity really, as I have managed to get the ethernet talking to the outside world via the cable modem. Thanks. -

How do I set up dhcp on my router. i can show the lease and servers, but dont know how to configure. Is this normal practice to configure a dhcp rather than use the cable modem.......etc etc etc -

Thanks for the speedy responses. Update::::: I disabled my cable modem acting as DHCP, and run a traceroute from my pc to a known host. I get a 10.x.x.x as my first hop (bridge in modem????) and then the gsr router at my isp. Neither of these addresses is the same as the winipcfg address... -

Hi all. Im trying to setup my E0/0 on a 2611 to interface to my ISP (RJ45 handoff), but dont know how to get the ip address of the cable modem. i can use winipcfg to get my address, but not the cable modem. Also, how do i configure this address as the ip is on a lease???? Once i get this...
