The results from McAfee were promising - cleared off a few issues it identified. I've also cleaned up a few threats found with HiJackThis and the PC has been running for +4 hours without a popup. I've been able to run MS Update and get the OS up-to-speed (still not sure about SP3). I'm...
UPDATE:
I found another posting - something similar
Problems with RPC services not starting
http://www.hardwareanalysis.com/content/topic/22343/
ran the following commands:
expand svchost.ex_ svchost.exe
copy svchost.exe %systemroot%\system32 /y

I started with running sfc. It just finished running - took a long time but there was nothing that came up after it finished so it looked like it completed. I rebooted and still the same thing. The following AUTOMATIC services are not starting (error 1053 or 1068):
Computer Browser...
Windows XP Home. This PC was jammed full of viruses - pop-up and IE windows running crazy. I ran SpyBot there were +700 detected. I also ran SuperAntiSpyware and came up with at least 40 more hits. After I cleaned up everything the PC starts OK but at more than half the services set to...
I hope this isn't too late to answer your question.
Here's an IBM link I found that has information on iCAL, how it's used and how it's set up.

I know this question has been around for a while but I can't find any documentation.
If a user is a member of 4 (as an exmaple) groups and each of those (4) groups is the addressee of an email - will the user get multiple (4 copies) emails (one for each group)?
Where can I find this type of...
We haven't tested this yet but it seems to be the solution:
Default Domain Controller GPO: Computer Configuration / Administrative Template / Printers … Checked Publish State is "Not Configured" which is described "Directs the system to periodically verify that the printers published by this...
I agree, plus if you need to bounce the print server you won't mess up and DC functionality. ... but my boss wants it that way so that's how we're running it. If you can offer up some security risk points I'd be glad to move away from this model. Thanks for pointing this out.

Thanks ADgod for following up on this one ...
No policies for printers are set up. I've seen this before and it appears to correct it self over time. Because of that I'm thinking it could be because AD is not refreshing the published printers until there's a reboot. In that case, if a remote...
I found a TechNet article on manually publishing printers to AD using pubprn.vbs - we're running Server 2003 and it does not work with it (forgot to include that detail). If you know of another way, please let me know. I have 2 printers on other print servers that are published so I'm thinking...
Roaming profiles is the solution. Check the MS site for the server/OS your using on how to set it up.

I've got several printers being shared on a print server and even though the "Publish Printers to AD" is checked they are not showing up anywhere in AD U&C. Using the Add Printer Wizard nothing shows up when I search the directory. I have a location entered on all printers and even if I filter...
I believe I confused the issue when I added the Exchange 2000 reference ... sorry. Let's stay with AD credentials.
Here's the steps:
In the corp office -
1) Turn on laptop (no wire/wireless connection)
2) Log on with domain credentials - successful (127.0.0.1)
(the PC is running...
Thanks for keeping up on this one bcastner.
What you're describing is a seperate issue (Exchange 2000 would email password expiration notices, 2003 doesn't have that same feature ... too bad). We've worked around that by making sure OWA is updated and password reset is enabled. This works...
Does anyone have a reference or process to set up an LDAP querry for the GAL on SBS? I would like to give all email accounts POP3 download (and be responsible for their own email) but still provide the GAL via LDAP.
Thanks in advance.

Finnaly found time to get back to this ... sorry for the break in the action.
Here's what I've found - when the user does not have access to My Docs it appears because the credentials are not "current". Then can log on to the PC but cannot access their (Offline) My Documents with the same...
I'm trying to get a USR 56K modem to work on COM1 running Server2003. The modem is detected and when tested thru Device Manager it communicates fine. When I run a app to test it ("ModemTest") it fails to find the modem. I've tried this setup on 2 different Server2003 machines with the same...
Everything you've provided is good and reflects how all users are set up. We only have seen issues with limited laptop users, all using domain PCs.
According to a MS KB :
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q172931/
the default setting for "cachedlogonscount" is 10 so I rebooted my laptop...
I assume that if the user can log in then all resources are available during that session - including (offline) My Docs.
Our system redirects to \\server\home\username\My Documents. In the Home directory My Docs shows as "username's documents". The Home properties (caching button) is set to...
We have domain laptops with My Docs mapped to a home dir and set for Offline files. I've had about 4 authenicated users who, while not connected to the network can't see any files in their My Docs. For example they would be in the airport logged in (cached credentials) to the PC and when the...
