I am hoping to somehow allow only users belonging to a particular group (i.e. group called GURUS) to access a confidential web page. Is there a way to prompt a user for userID and password and have AD allow access if the user belongs to the GURUS group?
Thank you.
Most of the email sent out do arrive, however, we are having difficulty sending to an email domain like COX.NET. I am suspicious of DNS. Is there a way I can change DNS server addresses my servers use to as a lookup?
For example, in the olden WinNT40 days, you simply change the ip address in...
In the olden WinNT4.0 days, you can easily change the DNS server addresses that you want to use. For example, you can use SBC's or your service provider's DNS servers. I am suspicious of DNS as outgoing most outgoing email arrive and some particular email domains do not. All inbound email do...
Please help.
We have an existing Exchange 2003 server called EXISTMAIL.
We just built a new Exchange 2003 server called NEWMAIL.
Servers are in the same subnet on a Windows Server 2003 platform. We are able to move a mailbox from EXISTMAIL to NEWMAIL and vise-versa using Exchange Tasks in...

I imaged a Windows 2000 Pro computer from an IBM. Dumped the image into a Dell. Everything worked perfectly except for Outlook from the Office XP Suite. I tried uninstalling Outlook 2002 and re-installing...but still gives error. I tried uninstalling all of Office XP and...
I am trying to change the the users' password [from a file] using the "net user" shell command for a WinNT4.0 server. I get hung up at this point, [oWshShell.Run "net user sUserID sPassword",,True] on the script. I was able to get it going using SendKeys...but there must be...
I am willing to purchase any book that will help me get started.

I finally managed to get Exchange 5.5 OWA on Win2K Server running IIS 5 [not an Exchange server]. In house, https://server_name/exchange/logon.asp works as expected. From home, I tried https://public_ip/exchange/logon.asp. Won't work. Port 443 and 80 are open on the DSL modem/router...
I'm looking for the best practices of moving OWA off from an Exchange 5.5 server(WinNT 4.0) onto a dedicated IIS server(Win2000). Any help would be appreciated.
I had this type of problem on my server. My server had 4 GB allocated for the C:. When I right-clicked the C: partition it showed 3.7 GB used. When I looked inside the root of C:, saw that all files used only 1.07 GB. Somebody here on Tek-Tip asked me to check on the tiny files. I found a...
C: has 4 GB allotted to it.
Currenly showing 3.7 GB used when right-clicking the c: icon.
When checking the contents of the root of c:, did a Ctrl+A and checked properties to find about 1.08 GB in use [all folders and subdirectories plus files in the root of c:].
I made sure that "show all...
Install the driver on the TS server.
Install the printer on the local workstation [win98/NT/etc] and thin client unit.
Upon connection to TS, local printer will become default printer and all users will be able to it as long as that workstation has a connection to TS. Once workstation...
I also had that same problem on Win2K Terminal Services. Implementing roaming profiles to force a copy from the network to the local server seemed to be the only answer. Worked great. Give it a try.
I've installed and supported Office 97 and Office XP together for about 6 months on Win2K Terminal Services. With few glitches like older Word 97 docs not opening in Word 2002 [reason for coexistance]...seems to work OK. However, I'm convinced that we should have stuck with Office 2000...
Is there a script or utility to re-assign the lost Primary Windows Account for an Exchange 5.5 server on a WinNT 4.0 Domain Controller server? The WinNT account and Exchange alias are exactly the same.
