Ok,
I've tested the 'optional prompt' and it looks like what I want to do. It allows me to not enter a value when the report is run and hence my internal report logic can do its job. I have to change any formulae that use the optional prompt to use HasValue() rather than the IsNull(), but other...
Thanks for the tips.
If I set the parameter as optional (I now have CR2008), what will that do to the prompts in Enterprise?
If the parameter is optional and the user dosn't enter a value in Enterprise, what will be passed to the report for processing?
I'm going to set up a test report to try...
Hi,
For a number of years i've been using CE9 as a report server but have recently switched to BOXI 3.1 to do the same job. At first all seemed fine, but i started noticing that some of my long standing reports were now failing. It seems that the logic that has been built into the reports to...
Ok, now i feel silly. The reports are being requested through Crystal Enterprise 9 and this had not been configured for some reports to prompt for the parameter value. Not unsurprisingly, when I enabled the prompt option the reports behaved as I had expected.
Thanks for takingthe time to look...
Hi,
I'm using CR Designer 9 to edit some existing (inherited) reports. All the reports have parameters defined under the Parameter Fields node in the Field Explorer, but ony some display the 'Enter Parameter Values' dialog when the report is run or refreshed.
What controls if parameters should...
Hi,
This seems to be a common query on many of the forums, but none of the responses I have seen so far seem to answer my question.
I have an invoice report that is displaying a problem with it's page numbering. The aim is so that I can print a batch of invoices with each new group starting at...
I've checked the "reset page after" is clear and that the "new page after" and not "new page before" is checked, and they're as expected. I'll try Business Objects to see if they have any idea. Thanks anyway guys.

lbass, On a one page report the PageNofM shows 'Page 1 of 1'. In the circumstace that I've described the same function is also showing 'Page 1 of 1' even though there are two pages.
I am resetting the page number after the GF, but even when this setting is removed I'm still gettin the problem...
RobbieB, The multiple sections are so that I can include additional notes to the user based on formulae (If the fourmula is true then hide this section type of thing). The last section (PFc) is the bog standard report name, version and number of pages.
I'm fairly sure that the problem is...
Yeap, just checked again and the page numbers are in the Page Footer section (in this case section PFc).
I'm using the CR Special Field 'Page N of M' to return the page count, so it's not even me being a numpty this time!

Hi,
I have a report (but this problem is equally valid in other reports) with a page header/footer, report header/footer, a group and some detail lines. Fairly standard don't you think!
The problem i'm getting is when the detail lines for a group almost fill the allocated space on a page but...
