I have a laptop with XP pro and everytime I try to open the task manager the window is cut off and the only thing i can see are the three buttons on the bottom; End Task,Switch to and New Task. Are their any known virus or worm that could cause this to happen?

What os are they running? If it is XP and it has SP1 then try turning off Wireless Zero Configuration in services. If you turn it off and the network goes down then you have to turn it back on for the adapters to see the AP's.
