Best way to shut down Exchange to copy and delete Priv.EDB

Update: The services shut down fine. I was able to make 2 copies of the MDBDATA folder. All is well. SO far. I haven't tried to reboot yet. That will be the litmus test. Thanks again.

Best way to shut down Exchange to copy and delete Priv.EDB

Thanks Dave. Does it matter if it's a flat file copy instead of a backup? If my day goes better tomorrow (than today), I will probably give that a try. Thanks again.

Best way to shut down Exchange to copy and delete Priv.EDB

Hello, My goal is to copy the Priv.EDB to an external drive and then delete it from the Exchange server. Preferably with the ability to restore it if in absolute dire need. I don't anticipate having to ever restore it, but you never know. I am going to be physically replacing this server in...

Exchange 2003 (SBS) space issue EDB doesn't match mailboxes. Need more space.

Exchange 2003 (SBS) space issue EDB doesn't match mailboxes. Need more space.

Thanks for the reply Zelendakh. Perhaps I wasn't clear in my description. Disregard my comment about the total size of the volume. I think it may be confusing you. My concern is that if I add up the total sizes of **mailboxes as shown in the Exchange System Manager** (My second picture)...

Exchange 2003 (SBS) space issue EDB doesn't match mailboxes. Need more space.

Greetings, I have an SBS 2003 Exchange server that is using a lot of space. There are only about 18 mailboxes on this system. I am on the verge of converting them to an online Exchange service, but need a another few weeks. My data drive (which has other apps on it as well as the Exchange...
