    LOAD 5519 on STK 9940B

Hi STKman and TechyG Thanks again for your replies. Indeed the setting is FULLCODE=N for all our drives. Now the next questions... - how can I get a copy of the firmware for the drive? - (can I extract the firmware from the drive using SCSI tools?) - is there a recommended SCSI tools utility...

    LOAD 5519 on STK 9940B

We decided to try updating the 1.34.408 drive. When attempting to create a code tape on any of our 1.42.407 drives we get yet another FSC: A738 What are we doing wrong? Thanks again Mike

    LOAD 5519 on STK 9940B

Thanks STKman and TechyG. Problem occurs on a selection of media, so it does look like a drive issue rather than media. One thing I have noticed is that the f/w on this drive is different from others. It has rev 1.34.408 and our others are 1.42.407f Is there a later f/w version available, or...

    StorageTek T9940B CHK 5F05

Hi TechyG Thanks, it was indeed PSU, we swapped out for a 9840 PSU which has solved the problem. I think the original PSU fault is related to flaky power-fail detection, since the fault only occurred whenever the drive was starting a fast locate up the tape, i.e. the motor was under load. BTW...

    LOAD 5519 on STK 9940B

Hello On a 9940B drive we are getting "LOAD 5519" occasionally when tape is first accessed after loading. Please could someone advise what this FSC means? Not sure if we've got bad tapes or drive here. Thanks Mike

    StorageTek T9940B CHK 5F05

Hi TechyG Thank you for your quick response. I guess that the PSU may be the cause then. BTW is the list of FSC for the T9940B available somewhere for purchase or free download? Thanks Mike

    StorageTek T9940B CHK 5F05

Hello, we have a STK T9940B which is reporting "Power Fail", "CHK 5F05", then switches itself off. Is anyone able to give me an idea of the likely cause of failure? Is it PSU or something else? Thanks Michael

    Data recovery?

Hello fellow IT peeps. We have a tape written on a T9940B drive that can no longer be accessed. The suspicion is that during a software test the tape was inadvertently quick-erased (using the SCSI quick erase command) when it should have been removed from the drive by the operator prior to the...
