We have a machine connected to our network, which needs to be able to dial-up to a server and ftp a file to a server.
We have tested a dial-up connection and it appeared to work ok on our machine. The dial-up connected, we connected via terminal. We ran our batch script, pulling files from the...
The problem we have is this:
Office Administrator has saved documents created from templates that auto-populate the date field within MS Word to todays date.
Now we need have documents that change the date to todays, rather than showing the original document's date.
We need to somehow convert...
Hate to drag an old thread up from the depths ... but the issue with this was apparently never resolved.
The card sees the network, has excellent connectivity yet totally fails to authenticate. XP Pro is fully updated and this issue is present with both the 3COM software and the in-built...
FWG114P has been pretty rock-solid for a couple of my clients who use it. No problems what-so-ever in about a year of operation.
D-link on the other hand had multiple problems with lockups and also signal strength.
Personally I like the 3COM wireless router at the moment.
We have a small wireless section of our LAN served by a 3COM OfficeConnect Wireless G router (3CRWE554G72TU). Workstations have 3COM 11a/b/g wireless PCI cards (3CRDAG675) installed.
Signal strength is excellent, WPA-PSK is enabled. Three workstations utilise this wireless segment, Windows XP...
We have a single laptop, connecting via wireless to a Windows 2003 domain.
The laptop will connect to the wireless without any problem.
It will receive it's DHCP address from the 2003 server.
It will then be totally unable to access the server in any way. Ping requests time out, and NSLOOKUP...

Some of these users receive a calendar invite, the rest receive a regular e-mail.

Can anyone shed any light on how to resolve this ...
Rbax, you are spot on. The older Windows 98 machine, however, will connect at 100mps on autosense, however all the XP machines I tried there only work when 10mbps is forced.
The cable is CAT5, and the entire building was done at the same time. Why it chooses not to work 100 on XP is a little...
I've found that I can increase the reliability of legacy applications if I run them from a command prompt, as opposed from an executable loading into the DOS environment.
You could always look at running a virtual PC on the server with DOS as the OS too.
If your NFP I would recommend the Netgear FVS318 VPN Routers, they have really dropped a lot in price and are highly capable of creating a tunnel for you.
I once had a similar problem with this on Dell desktops. It turned out that the hardware had changed ever so slighty, like a REV1 to REV2 version change. We had to create new images every approximately 10 PC's. This is caused us a total headache, especially when we had a couple of hundred...
We have been trying, for the second day now, to replace a windows 98 machine on our domain.
The W98 machine connects perfectly fine to the MS SBS2000 server.
When installing a Windows XP machine it either fails at 'acquiring network address' or shows 'Cable Disconnected'.
These XP Machines are...
Our current configuration when sending external e-mail has a display name of 'user'.
I need to change this display name to 'user - companyname'.
Can anyone shed any light on how to do this ?
Thanks.,
The slow opening files that you mention, were they all stored on the removed servers, and does it affect files that have been created solely on the new server ?
Also, I'm curious as to the initil server roles, and their removal. FOr instance was there a DC that was simply unplugged, or was it...
Hi,
I just thought that I would try on here before trying to wrestle this crazy little beastie!!
Network Server of MS Windows Small Business Server 2003, with domain.
Desktop PC with Outlook 2003 configured for Exchange only, no POP3 or other mail types.
Now, when the user (only affects...
That's exactly what I thought. Yet it works in all the other Office applications, which suggests to me that it is localised somehow to an MS Word setting.
I've tried rolling back the printer drivers but that makes no difference.
The exact same setup on other PC's in the domain functions...
Thanks for the link Dreamboat. I guess I forgot to mention that was actually the very first thing that I tried. Still, I tried it again, just incase, and still the same, with only 1 copy when multiple copies are selected.
When I re-installed Office, I removed all directories, and registry...
