yes, indeed it is new to me, i'm currently using vx netbackup for my daily/weekly/monthly backup. mksysb might not be needed. that why i need to know which directory to included for my weekly/monthly OS backup. thanks

i'm new to AIX system, i will like to backup the operation system directories only. take into consideration that (/, /var, /usr) are in different file system. by backing up this 3 directories is it sufficient or do i have to consider others?

if you didn't use automount feature. just excute below as root.
#umount /home
mount /home to any available disk slice, edit /etc/vfstab.
now you can treat /home as your home directory we full access.

reboot your netra, shall be ok.

you can check on the SUN machine /etc/inet/inted.conf file.
make sure it have the telnet configuration like below.
"telnet stream tcp nowait root /usr/sbin/in.telnetd in.telnetd"
if not add it in and than do a
kill -HUP <process id of inetd>
