I solved the problem, I discovered that on some machines the cached exchange mode was ticked. (This is in the advanced exchange settings under mail in the control panel for outlook 2003). When turning this off everything worked fine.

This probelm is occuring on several Windows XP machines running Office XP. But it dosen't happen all the time just randomly. It might be caused by Outlook or Printer drivers, any ideas/help would be appreciated.
