Hi there,
I have a guy at work has developed a basic ftp script which transfers files through a client behind a firewall to a Windows ftp server. The script seems to work ok when being run against 2k3 servers but when being run against a 2k12 box, no joy.
He tells me he is using the quote...
Hi there,
I've got to export around 150 scopes from a very busy 2k8r2 dhcp server in order to import to 2k12r2 to take advantage of the clustering.
I've been recommended various methods from colleagues including netsh dhcp export/import which failed on the import and also netsh dmp which I...
Hi there,
We have a bunch of shares with various subfolders with permissions set on the subfolders. The groups for these shares/subfolders are all sat in 1 OU.
I'd like the users to start managing their own permissions i.e. add/remove users from groups without using any 3rd party software. I...
I would like to input a bunch of servers from a text file and grab the DHCP scopes from these servers. I would then like to check to see if the options 066 and 067 are set on any of the scopes. If they are, I would like the value of these options outputted to a file along with the servername and...
Hi there, I don't know if this is the right forum for this but here goes...
Server A (2k8) is one side of the firewall and server B the other - my job is to find a way of sending files from A to B in 10 second intervals (only the changed files) and for this to be secure if possible.
I created...
Hi there,
We have an OU of let's say 500 groups which are used on shares. These shares are owned by various people and I'd like to allow these users to manage their own shares with a snap-in. I know that I could create sub OUs and allow permissions that way. I mean the problem here is, that all...
Hi Neill, thanks for getting back.
Funnily enough, I've decided to approach our client team who have a subscription and will see what they can do for me!
Once again thanks for the sound advice.
Regards,
Adam
Hi there,
I have a few MS certs including my MCITP Server Admin on 2k8, MCSA 2k3...
I'm considering attempting my MCSA on Server 2k12 and if I understand correctly in order to upgrade, I will need to take the 410, 411, 412.
In the past, I've got away with studying with trial versions on...
Yep, both DC's in the same site and like I say, no other machine having problems. We are going to try removing it and readding to the domain today and see if that makes any difference.
This is a secure enviroment so only the two DC's are reachable by the member server and they are both GC's. No RODC's, no.
Thanks for getting back by the way!
Hi there,
We have a secure network and want to upgrade our last 2k3 DC to 2k8R2. As part of this process we powered down our 2k3 DC to allow communications to go ahead with an existing 2k8 DC which was fine all excecpt for one server running 2k3 R2.
As soon as the existing 2k3 DC was powered...
OK, thanks for your help. When you say, get alerts when the server changes back to usual operation, what do you mean and what settings do you use? Thanks again.
Hi,thanks for getting back. The solution you've given me, won' this mean that the customer will receive random alerts for all sorts of different things? I only want him/them to receive events in the event that the server is powered back up. Thanks.
Hi there,
Not 100% sure I'm in the right place here but let's see!
In one of our remote sites I've setup an alert from HPSim to a couple local admin people set to 'severity is Critical' so that when there is a loss of connectivity to the server, they'll receive a text and this works fine. The...
Hi. Never done this in production myself, but I know you can set a program to run on connection in the user profile, on the TS itself within Terminal Services Config and on the connection or in GP. I guess you will then need to tweak GP to remove anything else you don't want the user to access...
It is possible yes. I put Wireshark on the network and found a load of spoolss smb errors so I actually remoted onto one of the clients to discover a mapped drive and also a bunch of printers pointing at this server...once I disconnected all these, his IPC$ connection was gone! I'll just need to...
Hi there,
I have a server that I'm trying to take out of service (it's been upgraded - I mean I've installed a second and transferred DHCP and other services across). At the moment, within computer management (under shared folders/sessions) there are constantly sessions being initiated for...
Hi! Yep, I've tried both and both were successful! I considered the possibility that there is a network problem also...users are logging on from Asia...
Hi there,
I have a production server which can't be rebooted. This server is in the domain1.domain.com domain and users logging onto this server from the same domain have no problem. If users from domain2.domain.com logon, the above event (1054) is generated in the app log. On enabling userenv...
