I've been looking for a way to setup a redundant authentication mechanism over a geographically dispersed number of DC's and I've been surprised how little information I could find. Basically I'm looking for LDAP that could be tied in to Active Directory and then have replication throughout to...
I thought it would be possible with the type of computer that I was connecting this to.
I was hoping that the HP DL380 that we already have sitting there could be used for the shared array. It has 6 SCSI drives using RAID 1 and 5.
Is there no way that I can convert something like that into...
I only ask because I was in the cluster administrator to create a new cluster and it scanned everything and returned a warning at the end that it couldn't find a resource for the cluster.
this was after I tried a primary partition on the box itself and then a mapped drive to another server.
okay, just to clarify...
If I take a file server that is using RAID and then configure a drive on it and then setup a mapped drive from nodes 1 and 2 to the shared resource, will that be enough for the quorum?
Or should I go about this in another way to make it compliant for clustering?
so what happens if the quorum fails?
Does that bring down the cluster? Doesn't that also create a single point of failure in the cluster which is supposed to be about removing those?
I am totally new to clustering and I would just like to know...
If you were going to setup a two node cluster in an active/passive configuration how is the quorum made?
In the diagrams I've seen it's like it's a seperate file server that hosts the quorum.
Is there a quorum on each server...
Hi,
I'm trying to make a page out of asp that will use a calendar popup when the date field is clicked.
Basically it's the same thing as you would see here:
http://www.aircanada.com/en/home.html
When you click in the 'departure date' field a calendar popup comes to life.
Can anyone tell...
I can't really think of too many ways around this.
It seems to be a shortcoming of the routers to pick this as the default, or just bad luck that the work network is on the same subnet.
However, it shouldn't be a big deal for home users to switch because all you have to do is switch the...
right you are!!
I changed the home network to another private ranger (172.16.0.x) and everything was perfect with the name resolution, etc.
thanks a lot!
okay, I'll give that a shot.
I'll have to plug directly into the modem because the home computer I'm testing on is using a 'cheap-o' router that won't allow me to configure the interfaces.
That, or I can take a router home from work and try it with that in place instead.
Either way, I'll...
I setup a VPN and relay agent on our ISA 2004 firewall and everything is working well, accept for hostname or FQDN resolution.
When I do an nslookup for hostname I get the right IP/hostname from the DNS server on the internal network, which is great.
I can also ping the IP successfully...
okay, apparently this can be caused if you are using a proxy or if you did the computer install using a RIS image.
In any case, I went to the internet options > connections tab > LAN settings > "use proxy server..." > and then ticked the "bypass proxy server..."
Then I did a repair of the...
I just installed the Microsoft Portal on a 2003 Server computer and now I'm getting a lot of errors in the event logs and a runtime error every few minutes.
All of the errors are concerning the Microsoft SharepointPS search service.
The runtime errors will continue to popup unless I disable...
still no improvement.
I tried them all on 10, 100 and auto. I also tried the outside interface at 10 (because it goes into a 10 line, cable modem) and then 100 on the inside. Still no joy.
I appreciate all of the help though...
The switch we have doesn't seem to have a setting on the front (or anywhere else) that will allow me to switch to half-duplex, so I would assume that it opperates in full-duplex all the time.
Would this cause a problem if the PIX is operating in half-duplex?
Also, if I wanted to switch the PIX...
Sorry about all the code. This is the first time I've actually used that command so I wasn't sure what was useful, etc.

the access list on this thing is tiny so it wouldn't do any good to compile it.
Both interfaces are up, running at 100 and full duplex. I have tried it at 100 and auto and both yeild the same results.
I can try the switch ports but these worked before with the other PIX so I can't see that as...
We used to have a Cisco PIX 506 and it went belly up. We just got a PIX 515e and we configured it the same way, but with less rules because some of the ones on the old PIX were not used any more. Even though it would seem that it has less to do, the internet access is really sluggish compared to...
