Has anyone successfully deployed Symantec Ghost across a network where the VLANs are defined as "IP Protocol" VLANs, and the infrastructure includes the 8600, 8300, 1600, 1200 and BPSs, 450s, and 470s? We want to put the Ghost server upstream where all the other servers are, and image clusters...
We ended up offloading the layer 3 routing to Passport 1600's while letting the 1200's do the layer 2 distribution, even with multiple VLANs, they're more stable now.
One of the things Nortel does now for security is to default the community strings at the time of a code upgrade. And more generally, they are concerned that anyone who knows the default settings would be able to contact your box using snmp.
I'm looking for user recommendations on the 5510 10/100/1000 switch stack. Are they more stable than our BPS/450 hybrid stacks have been? Sales recommends we go with an 8300 instead for our server room. What do you think?
thanks
