Load balancing is quite simple, you simple have x number of machines with the same content on them and use a loadbalancer to distribute traffic among them. Basically you set up a virtual IP(and put that in dns as www.yourcompany.com) on the device and tell it which IP's to ditribute the traffic...
I'm not sure what homersim2600 is talking about, or rather I'm not he he knows what he's talking about. You can have as many IIS servers running on the same net as you want(all at the same time), you can have thousands on the same IP even with different ports. Also you use normal network cards...
