I have completed prototyping the activeX email ... it works GREAT!!! Had some issues at first but now it works great - I'm very excited about the possibilities!
--set up global string[255] msg; in the session extended rules

Has you thougth of using the ActiveX funtionality of Extended Rules.
You could create an instance of an ActiveX Outlook.Application class and send an email. Might take some work throughout the map?? I haven't used this yet but am very intrigued by it.

Some other observations that I have found in ECMap / ECGateway is : it's more of an EDI "platform" or "framework" in which you develop EDI based solutions. Other software packages do much of the mapping logic / flow control for you. ECMap allows you to control much more...
Have you seen any online/book training (other than the classroom/cyber environment that's offered on the Sybase website)?
I have been going through the guides that come with it - but I am looking for more tutorial based info... the guides seem more reference based.
