Hi All. I have been asked a question, and I can't find a definitve answer on Cisco.com, nor can I get hands on with an example of the hardware to test for myself. Does anyone know if ROMMON on an ASR 1002 allows the use of tftpdnld in the same way as other types of router? ALso is there a copy...

Use of USB for IOS transfer

Hi All I have been trying to find a definitive answer on cisco.com, but have failed so far. Assuming I am on a router that has USB port, and an IOS that supports copy to and from USB, can anyone tell me the maximum size USB memory key I can use? I have seen various things that talk about...

    Upgrade Cisco 7304

Does anyone have a document that guides through upgrading IOS, Boot image and FDP files on a &304 with NSE-150? Specifically to load c7300-js-mz.122-33.SB9.bin c7304-fpd-pkg.122-33.SB9.pkg c7300-boot-mz.122-33.SB9.bin Cisco's release notes seem to point to a document for 7500, which is...

    ADSL bouncing on 837

Hi all I have a number of sites where 837s are connected to BT ADSL lines. Some of them have an intermittent problem where the ADSL interface bounces. BT check the line, either from the DSLAM or on site and find it to be OK in terms of signal/noise when the router is disconnected. However when...

    dsl power-cutback command

Hi all I have seen the dsl power-cutback command in a config for the first time. I looked on cisco.com, and it gives me a syntax for the command, but I am not sure what it does and how it is applied. If the config has: dsl power-cutback 1 applied to the ATM interface, and the default value...

    minimum router configuration

Wastedyouth614 'wr' is short for 'write memory', which is exactly the same process as 'copy run start'. I prefer the copy command, because there is the possibility that you could accidentally type an extra character after wr. If you type 'wr e' that is short for 'write erase' which deletes...

    ADU

Hi All Has anybody got a link to help me understand ADU and what its features and benefits are. I don't have any hardware to play with it on, and the BCMSN texts say next to nothing about it, but I keep seeing it in test questions.... Thanks EB

Aironet 1300 No Configure Terminal Question

Hi Octavian I would expect 'conf t' to work too. Have a look at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/wireless/access_point/1300/quick/guide/br13qsg.html#wp13691 EB

Cisco 2610 'Password Recovery is Disabled'

There is a command string to disable password recovery for security reasons: no service password recovery. I guess it is brought on by paranoia :-). This page refers to it: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/ios/12_3/12_3y/12_3ya8/gtnsvpwd.html EB

    Copy Config to router

A tip if you are using copy & paste-to-host in Hyperterminal. Set a line delay in the ASCII settings of Hyperterminal of 40 milliseconds. If you do that then you don't get any parts of the config dropping out because of the lack of flow control on the console port. EB

How do I found out if my 6509 supports BI-directional spanning?

Look at 'monitor session' at http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst2970/software/release/12.1_19_ea1/command/reference/cli1.html#wp2788722 You will end up with something like Switch(config)# monitor session 1 source interface gigabitethernet8/47 both Switch(config)# monitor...

    Is it possible, Cisco 1720

Hi Burt I have trawled Cisco's Feature Navigator to find an IOS that supports this. I can find no entries for 1700s at all. If you know of an IOS that will support trunks on a 1720, please let me know; it would make my life easier. Many thanks

    Is it possible, Cisco 1720

Are you trying to treat one of your ethernets as a trunk? If so, the 1700 series cannot handle it. Trunking/multiple VLANs are not featured any any 1700 series IOS (as far as I am aware). It might be possible to do it using two sub-interfaces on the single ethernet port, and having separate IP...

    Newbie to routers.

I think you are trying to make your router accept a remote login via telnet from a laptop. You are currently connrected to the router console. So, set an enable or secret password as you have, then do: conf t line vty 0 4 password cisco login end The "Translating "int"... domain server...

    837 versus ADSL WIC performance

Hi Has anyone out there got any experience of comparing 837 ADSL perfremance/stability with a router that uses a WIC-1ADSL card, such as a 1721? I have an issue where multiple 837s seem to lose the line as signal-to-noise ratio increases, but a 1721 on the same line seems to be stable. Is...
