I'm having a problem with an SSH client (Windows running PuTTY) connecting to my OpenSSH server runing on Solaris 10. No other clients have the problem and I see they authenticate in my logs, but they immediately get disconnect. This is the output from the client session:

I recently upgraded Sun Directory Server 5.3 Patch 4 to Patch 6 and all my user account are locked. I get an invalid password error. Anyone else have this experience or now how to fix it? Restored from backup, and everything works.
Here is the error I received when using the GUI installer:
ERROR: The specified root and/or boot was not found or was not upgradable. Pfinstall failed: Exit Status = Java.Lang.UNIX Processes@4845aa2

I recently found that if you upgrade from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 and are running SVM, you can not upgrade using the GUI installer. If you run in text only mode, it works fine. I found a post on an opensolaris form that states this on an older version of Solaris 10. Had the idea to try text...
probably related to the home directory for the user. Does oracle own its home directory? Does the parent directory have 755 permissions? Its probably trying to write the .dt file under the user home.
domburns62 - Double checked and I am not using NIS at all
djr111 - The system boots off the remote jumpstart without issue.
I ended up just doing a clean install. This was the only system I had this problem during the upgrade. I prefer clean installs anyway.
Thanks for the suggestions
domburnes62,
I get no error when I use jumpstart, I get "Error 11" when I install from DVD. I restart it via DVD, and it give the same Error 11 again. I'm not running NIS or NIS+, Ill look into it, maybe it was enabled some how.

Upgrading from Solaris 9 to Solaris 10 fails in the same part of the install process, if I jumpstart it or install from DVD. I recently jumpstarted 10 systems using the same jumpstart server, all with no issues. Anyone see this before?

User logins suddenly stopped showing up in last. Anyone know why that might be? I have 8 servers with identical configurations and only one is having this problem. I am running OpenSSH but I am on all servers.
Do you have auditing turned on? (assuming /var is part on /) check /var/audit. audit files are very compress-able just don't compress the current audit file. You can compress and archive them according to your local log retention policy.

Thanks guys! You were right, I just needed to find my old version of Perl and and copy the .pm over. I don't remember installing that .pm, but... it was a while ago.
Depends on what version of tar your are running too. If you have gtar installed there is a compress and decompress flag
/usr/local/bin/tar -xvzf filename.tar.gz
The tar that comes with Solaris.. doe not have compression build in.
