    Thanks for your reply, but i found the problem. I turned it on earlier and the HDD died. Files gone and nothing can be done, thanks again.

    The two files mentioned do not initialize whenever i boot, this means i cannot get into the desktop, i have important files on the computer and need to get into winodws XP, i tried installing win2k beside it and getting files from there, but it didnt give me access. Has anyone got a fix for this?
