Replying to my own post......The problem was fixed in my XP pc by re-installing the latest Quicktime. The first install attempt must have glitched. Tom- Helio27

I am using Quicktime 7 Pro on a Mac and compressing a short test movie .avi file into a H.264 Mp4 video. When I try to play this file on a pc with a current Quicktime player I get this error message : Couldn't open file "movietest.MP4" because an unknown error occurred.
