The CPE is dual-stack, and will have both IPv4 and IPv6 nodes on its LAN interfaces.
But the traffic has to be passed on natively on WAN dialer interface, and hence I feel it need to have both v4 and v6 address. Otherwise, I will be forced to use some tunneling approach over WAN which I don't...
Hi Burt,
As mentioned before, I would have both IPv4-only and IPv6-only devices connected behind CPE which need to communicate natively with outside network.
I think for this, CPE has to be dual-stack and the dialer interface need to have both IPv4 & IPv6 address.

Hi Burt,
I think I have to clarify my question again
Can the dialer WAN interface (in CPE) negotiate and obtain both IPv6 address and IPv4 address at the same instance in a PPPoA session? This is required as I would have both IPv4-only and IPv6-only devices connected behind CPE.
I don't have...
Thanks Burt for immediate response.
I am planning to use a Cisco 877 as CPE, and since this is going to be a trial I can try any image for this model as suggested.

I am trying to find out if it is possible for a single dialer interface to negotiate and obtain both IPv4 and IPv6 address on a PPPoA session.
I am working on a dual-stack ADSL solution, and hence it would be helpful if someone can share their knowledge on this.
Thanks & Regards,
Satheesh
