    how to calculate markup density

    I found some sites where they wrote about markup density and its effects on e.g. performance measurements of parsers (http://www.xml.com/pub/a/2004/09/15/pl-perf.html) but nowhere how I can calculate the markup density of a document. Any idea? thanks, luosy
