What's the difference between wr mem and copy run start?

Thanks, I've been doing Cisco stuff for 15 years now, and have always used wr mem. But I've started getting the certs since the job market is bad, and it may make the difference, and all the cert guides use the copy syntax.

    Cisco 857

(Disclaimer: I work for a Web Security Company, so I'm biased). In my opinion, the Cisco router is not suited for such tasks. Why? Because the Internet is ever changing, and what is a "phone-home" type site today is gone tomorrow, and ever changing. Your best bet is to do a Web Proxy and...

SDM Cannot be viewed in XP

Both SDM and SDM Express "run" on your PC - whether you load it directly from your PC file system or download it for each use from your router.

SDM Cannot be viewed in XP

By any chance, are you using IE and running the SDM from the local PC? if so, check Tools => Internet Options => Advanced and allow active content from file. Also, you may find it still doesn't work because you are using JRE 6u13 or 6u14. Downgrade to 6u6 and it will work. You can find 6u6 on...

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

Burtsbees - Tend to agree with you. This is all 100Mbit and not 1000Mbit full-duplex, though. Aside from the impending violence against my wires, there is really no reason the cable would work, as far as I can tell. However, new cable with all 8 wires connected worked.

cisco routing help with multiple gateways..

I wouldn't be too sure that the ISPs would not work together. If they don't, go find someone who will. Most ISPs will work together for redundant links.

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

Just wanted to let the forums know I solved this problem. Basically, the cable I was using was a straight-thru with 1,2,3,6 connected. Switching this cable out to one that had all eight wires connected resulted in the solution. Now, quite why connecting the four extra wires caused the...

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

Good Question. It was an artifact of the configuration after running "setup". Removing it does not cause a change. According to this: http://www.cisco.com/en/US/prod/collateral/iosswrel/ps6537/ps6586/ps6634/prod_white_paper0900aecd8043bc32.html .. it's a Cisco recommended configuration...

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

I thought of that as well. Actually, it was the first thing I checked when I was getting failures. I also double-checked the port by plugging the laptop into the port I am using.

    Boxs used?

I use a Dell 630 laptop, which has a COM port, and the following to get a second COM port, so I can look at my switch and router at the same time. http://www.provantage.com/cables-go-26886~7CBTR00R.htm Enjoy!

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

vipergg: you may be right. I was following docs after searching for "auto-MDIX cisco" through google. Never auto-trust what you read. I don't have a 2940 to test on (and a 2924 isn't in the same series). acrowe: Cross-over cable didn't work. Now that I think about it, there is no reason it...

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

The other switch is a Linksys/Cisco SR224 business series switch, which does indeed have auto-MDIX. I thought Cisco enterprise switches also had auto-MDIX, but it seems there are only a handful (such as the 2940 series) that do. I'll get a cross-over cable, test and let you know.

    Cisco 2900XL Switch Configuration Question

Hi all, I have a Cisco 2900XL switch and a Cisco 2650XM router. Basic configuration - FastEthernet0/1 on the router is configured with an IP address (192.168.1.1/24) and connected via a straight-thru cable to Fa0/24 on the switch. I've gone through the basic set up on the switch. Problem...
