the pix see the all the devices like an IP cloud , it doesnt know if there is an ISDN link, E1, ATM or whatever.
since ISDN is a dial line it probably have an idle-timer so if u want the tunnel to be "up" enytime, consider...

when u want traffic to be forwarded from high_security_interface (eg. LAN) to low_sec (eg. OUTSIDE) u should make NAT by using "nat (inside) 1 0.0.0.0 0.0.0.0" and "global (outside) 1 interface" this means :
nat... = make NAT to all of the inside users...
global... =...
ppp multilink is optional (make a bundle of 2 bri channels as 1 link - use it if u want to use 2 calls of 128K instead of using 64K )
u should use command "dialer-list 1 protocol ip permit" which cause the router to "open" the line for any ip traffic. because u have RIP...

i have never try this configuration but its sounds like it should work ...
try configure the serial interface as async and then its should work with your modem, i guess u can also send controls via rs232 ( as DTR from the router or DCD from the modem so the router will "open" the...
looks like the 1720 have an access-list on its outside interface isnt it ?
if yep u have 2 add :
if 209.145.11.9 is your ip when going out ( if u see it on www.whatismyip.com ) u should make another static NAT for this server lets say 209.145.11.8
