that is a possibility, but the problem is that there are multiple roles that need read access to the data...and one role needs to be able to update the *closed* indicator...which would then revert all the security for that record back to the previous, open version. i know this is confusing and...- cornelli

Is it possible to change the Oracle role of a using VB code, based on a particular data item? For example, if an insurance claim is open, Role A can read/update all the data. But when the claim is processed and closed, Role A should only be allowed to view the data. This needs to happen...- cornelli
