    I forgot to state the OS. It is 98 SE. I tried the repair and for some reason IE 5.5 still hangs from time to time when I click on the IE icon.

    This just started happening to me.After I hit the icon for IE, I sometimes have to wait 15 to 20 seconds before the actual browser pops up. It used to pop up almost immediately. I haven't added any new software. Any ideas? Thanks for the help. Chris Foot

    I haven't figured out how to keep it from coming up, but here's how I kill it. C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\WBEM\WINMGMT /kill
