    Serial Communication w/out javax.comm

    I need to communicate with a serial device and I'm on a platform that does not support javax.comm (HP-UX 10.20 JDK 1.1.8). I know about Serialio.com's product, but is there any non-commercial way I can do this using what is provided in the JDK??
