This is a common problem when removing adware. The adware programs are so tied to your internet connection that when they are removed improperly, it takes the internet connection with them. Once detected, you should remove Newdonet and other adware...
Typing in the full address does not help. Removing all the spyware has not helped, but I did run into a case once where the spyware caused the problem with some registry changeds that it made which remained after the spyware was removed.
The mcrepair program made no difference. I think the problem may have been caused by some sort of spyware. Any additional suggestions are most welcome.
On a windows 98se machine with IE6, the detect network settings does not work. I can ping by url name, but I cannot get the browser to go to any site. I have already reinstalled windows and renamed wsock32.dll and winsock.dll so they recreated. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
