    DNS Issue

Hi - I've searched around and could not find the answer I'm looking for. I know the "long" way to fix this and I'm hoping to avoid it. We took over a client that the DNS name was setup as foo.com Not a big deal, setup the www, mail, mx, etc records. Well, they now need the ability to hit...

RRAS: Error 678 on Dial-up, Error 619 on VPN

I've got a Windows 2000 Server with RRAS setup. When I try to dial into 1 of my 2 modems, I get a Error 678. When I try to connect to the VPN I get an error 619. Nothing seems to be turning up in the Event Logs. Any thoughts? Thanks. --John

    Promise Ultra66 Question

Hi, I have an older PC that I installed an 80Gb hard drive and a promise ultra66 controller in. (No other hard drives present). After I install NT Workstation and reboot, I get the error "Operating System not found". It is a Western Digital hard drive, so I've removed the jumper...

    ModSSL and Vhosts

Hi, I setup Apache 2.0.43 and OpenSSL 0.9.6g on my server. I succeeded in making a self signed certificate, but when I created a "new" virtual host to handle my https traffic, I ended up not being able to access my other virtual hosts, getting a 400 page error. My "ssl...

    Sharing a Mapped Network Drive

Hi, Ok, a stupid routing problem kept me from getting this mounted earlier. Anyway, I used smbmount to mount the remote share, now when I try to map from a windows machine, I get username / password problems. Incorrect password or invalid username is the error I'm getting. But when I mapped...

    Samba / Wins Question

Thanks for the reply, your solution (just mapping the drive) is not really possible to implement. The Cisco PIX isn't hooked into the same network as the computers I need to map. (Poor planning on HQs part). Also, when I do a /usr/sbin/netconfig --help, it doesn't say anything about WINS, am...

    Samba / Wins Question

Hi, I've got a Linux box configured and running Samba. Here is a brief snapshot of what I'm doing (to be followed by my questions): I've got a branch office across the state. They outfitted us with Cisco PIX firewalls and established a VPN between three locations. (Of course they didn't...

    Sharing a Mapped Network Drive

Thanks for the input. I got samba installed and running with no problems. Now I am attempting to get the smbclient command done. Once I run that command, I'm unclear as to how I make that resource from the remote computer available to my local users. In the smb.conf file would I just have...

    Sharing a Mapped Network Drive

Thanks for the response. I am somewhat familiar with Samba, but not the way you are saying to use it. (I've only ever shared directories on the linux box Samba was running on). Can you give me an idea of what the samba conf file would need to look like to pull that off? Thanks. --John

    Sharing a Mapped Network Drive

Hi, Is it possible to share a mapped network drive? Here is the scenario: I've got an internal network of users setup, authenticating off of my (NT4.0) PDC and using a secondary (NT4.0) server (server A) for storage / file sharing. There is a branch across the state that we need to share...

    Account Problems

Hi, I'm still having the same problems. The user is available in the Notes Address Book, I just can't access the mail directory from the Notes client on his PC. (As I mentioned the PC crashed and all the info was lost, including the Notes ID file). I tried the "Use the same User Name...

    Account Problems

Hi, A while back a hard drive (in the office) crashed and I lost the Notes ID file. Since they didn't have much in Notes, I just wiped the account off of the server and created a new account. In recreating the computer (installing the new hard drive), I reinstalled Notes, and went to setup...

    Shared Outlook 2000 Contact List?

Hi, I've got 7 users in a group that are using Outlook 2000 for email. They are not using any internal servers for email. They would like the ability to have 1 shared Contacts list, so everyone has access to that list (and they could each have individual contact lists on their pc). Is this...

    Lost ID file

Hi, I had a computer crash the other day, and it ended up being formatted and reinstalled, problem is the ID file for Notes was on there. I'm using Notes R5. Is there something I can do from the server to recreate the ID file? Is there something I can do from another client that will recreate...

    System Monitoring

Hi all, I'd like to know what people use for System Monitoring in an Windows 2000 Advanced Server environment. I'm going to have 2 servers, 1 is a web server, the other is a database server that I would like to monitor event logs, services, outages, etc. I've looked at a few products...

Corrupt drive - can I recover?

Hi, I've done physical diagnostic checking and my drive is Ok. Windows 2000 somehow became corrupt on the drive. The symptoms were the machine would just boot thru the manufacturer logo and a cursor would just blink in the upper left corner. I did system diagnostics, the drive is fine. I...

    Not Starting

Hi, I set the jumpers on both drives and put my current hard drive in as a slave to another Win2K machince. (all IDE). When I boot I get part way thru the progress bar and get this error: "Stop: 0xF281B84C, 0xC0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000 INACCESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE" This only...

    Not Starting

Hi, I used the CD and the ERD to try to recover the Win2000 install. This is the error I got: Setup has determined Drive C: is corrupted and cannot continue. Any thoughts? Let me know your thoughts on this. I have a couple other machines around (I'm at work), I am thinking of putting the...

    Not Starting

That doesn't do it either. I get 2 prompts, "Initializing MBA. Hit Ctrl-Alt-B to configure" "Hit N for Network boot" Tried both of them, neither one work, also, when I hit F8 all it does is clear thru those 2 prompts. (In other words, the Hit Ctrl-Alt one comes up, it...
