    Funnitly enough, they app people have come back, and admited it is their error, which they've resolved, surprise surprise. Thanks for the help.

    The file systems have been fsck'd and all are okay. There is nothing unusual in the messages file. The system was rebooted as well and nothing unusual was noted on the console. Any ideas?
