Okay this shows some promise. According to http://www.petri.co.il/what's_my_e2k_sp_version.htm, I have pre Roll-up. This could be the cure, Ill let you guys know if it works,

The error message that comes up during setup specifically points out Exchange 2000 service pack 3,

I have a strange problem. I have exchange 2000 service pack 3. Ive checkedmany times. For some reason though when I try to install the server part of Symantec Mail Security, it claims I dont have service pack 3 for Exchange 2000 and it shuts setup down right after it starts.

I think I resolved the problem,
I believe it was a result of anti-virus software scanning the M: drive,

Hi,
After running Microsoft Backup I get a completed with errors, so I check the log and it appears as though it is happening in first storage group. Then in the appliction log I get these three errors;
