Just before this happened I loaded Vista Service Pack 2, but there may be no connection.
I can't get into Safe Mode. If I attempt it loads a screen full of system files, gets as far as crcdisk.sys and then I get a "please wait.." message at the bottom of the screen which doesn't go away.
The...
Haven't bought PS2 keybord yet.
I got into the BIOS and looked at USB settings. There were 2. One for USB keyboard and one for USB mouse. The options for each were-
1)Operating System (OS)
2)BIOS
I changed both to BIOS and saved. This has given me control of these peripherals after boot. That's...
Actually I just noticed, the green lights on the USB hub go out when windows fails to start. My keyboard and mouse are connected to the hub. However, if I connect them directly to USB ports on the main PC it makes no difference. Same problem.
Appreciate your help. PC starts and I get the usual BIOS messages - black screen white text. At the point where Windows starts loading nothing happens. The screen remains black. I get no messages from Vista/Windows at all. After a few minutes I turn off. Next time I turn on I get message...
Thanks for your response. Yes it is a USB keyboard. Changing the USB port seemed to make no difference at all. Yes I could get into the BIOS to make CD-ROM first boot. I can try one other USB keyboard. Would it be better to use a standard PS2 keyboard? Any idea what's going on? I think I'd just...
Using Vista Home Premium which will no longer start. I cannot use the Recovery Disk although I've set the BIOS to boot from the CD-Drive first. I get the message "booting from cd-rom" but then it asks me to press any key to boot from cd-rom. Although I press a key (many keys in fact) it doesn't...
I am trying to install Norton Internet Security 2007, but this won't install until I remove the old version. Problem is when I try to remove it with Change/Remove the product just greys out and no confirmation button appear. I have disabled the programmes and switched everything off in Services...
Thanks for the suggestion. The permissions on the source file and the destination file are the same.

I am looking at .JPG files using WP&FV in WinXP Home with Service Pack 2. I can look at the files but I cannot save them, or do anything else with them. I get the following error message -
"Failed to save to the specified location. Make sure the file is not write-protected and there is enough...
Amazing. Thanks to you guys I got it. The CD Burning folder had no attrib.s set. It turned out to be InCD from Ahead which was interfering in some way. I removed any traces of InCD with the Tool you pointed out and next time I wrote files to my RW drive they were automatically deleted...
Thanks for all your help with this bcastner and linney. It is much appreciated. I set the IMAP service to 'Automatic', didn't resolve the problem. The 2 KB links don't seem to have any specific references to the particular problem I am having. It's not that the CD Burning folder and the CD-RW...
In Permissions I have 'Full Control' over the CD Burning folder, dark grey tick on light grey background, (as does Admin and System, Creator/Owner is not mentioned). I'm not ticking the box that tells the system to retain the files so that they can be written to another CD. If I remove the CD I...
Thanks very much for your reply. I have to admit that the XP version I have is Home not Pro. When I ran 'Sfc /Scannow' confusingly Home asked me for 'my XP Pro CD' which obviously I haven't got. Anyway, I put in the Home CD and it seemed to check all the files and reported no errors. In fact it...
When I burn a CD (using the built-in utility) the temp files which are stored in -
Documents and Settings\<username>
\Local Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CD Burning
do not go away. They stay there, in case I want to burn another set I guess. However when I try to delete them I am always...
